Following the dissatisfaction over the emergence of Donald Trump, as
the President of the
United States, more than 650,000 Americans have
reportedly signed a petition for his impeachment.
The online petition was signed to unseat the president, whose
relationship with the general public has never been good, a US-based
newspaper, Times is reporting.
According to the report, the online petition, spearheaded by two
non-profit advocacy groups, Free Speech for People and Roots Action, was
created the day Trump was inaugurated as President.
The report quoted the campaign as saying 655,363 signatures have been
collected from Americans in a move to impeach the President.
Trump has issued a number of controversial executive orders,
including immigration ban against people from seven Muslim-majority
countries. This has been put on hold by a federal judge.
The report said the President’s approval rating is at a historic low level.
It noted that the US Congress would have to find him guilty of
treason, bribery, or “other high crimes and misdemeanors” before his
impeachment can be possible.
Times said the organizers are asking supporters to sign the petition
in order to convince Congress to impeach the unpopular president.
