Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
Brigadier-General Suleiman Kazure, has
assured corps members posted to
northern parts of the country of their safety.
The NYSC boss spoke yesterday while addressing 2016 Batch B corps
members posted to Niger State, at the orientation camp in Paiko Local
Government Area of the state.
He disclosed that 90 per cent of corps members posted to the north had applied for redeployment.
He, however, assured that “the north is no longer volatile.”
Represented by the Director of Information and Communication
Technology (ICT), Mrs. Christy Ifeyinwa Uba, Kazure said the successes
recorded by the military, had brought normalcy to the entire north.
He appealed to corps members not to be discourage by the negative stories they had heard about the north.
“I want to assure you that the north is now peaceful and the people
are friendly. Keep an open mind and give it a chance and a trial.
“Your posting is not by mistake, stay here and make some impact on the people of the state”, he said.
He warned corps members to desist from channelling their complaints and grievances through the social media.
“This is a disciplined organisation. If you have issues or
complaints, meet either your local government or zonal coordinator and
even your state coordinator rather than taking to the social media”, he
added.
