for a weekend and go shopping in Chicago. Chicago just happens to be about 2 hours away from each of you, so it is decided. As you were chatting online you both were excited to learn that you were born only days apart at the same hospital. Now, you are about ready to meet this lady that you have befriended. She knows all your deep dark secrets, when you and your hubby fight, where your kids live, how old your grandchildren are, and so on and so forth. You have let her know all about you and you believe that you know her just as well.
The sad news is that this mystery lady does not show up, but a much younger woman appears at the location you were suppose to meet. She walks up to you and gives you a hug stating she is the one you are there to meet. As she hugs you, she pokes a sharp object in your ribs and asks for your purse.
What do you do now? Give her your purse and pray she walks away. Yell and make a scene. She knows where you live, where your husband works, where the kids live, and where the grand kids go to school. All you can do is give her your purse and then call the police.
This may sound like a far fetched scenario, but this could actually occur. Many sexual predators chat with their victim online for months in order to learn all they can so they can find them instead of planning a meeting.
The answer to this problem is to do a background check on the person you are getting close to online. You certainly do not want to end up in a situation where you are putting family members or yourself in harms way.
