We are known to spend several hours of the day in the kitchen where
we involve ourselves in preparing food for the family and us or on
special occasions
prepare delicacies. A kitchen is a place where almost
all necessary ingredients, appliances, cookware is handy thus allowing
us to prepare the meals in almost no time especially when we have
high-end appliances like microwave oven helping out. Another aspect of
cooking in the kitchen is cleanliness. While we are at it, it is bound
to get dirty given the various ingredients that go into preparing the
food. Spillage, accidents, grease and germs from raw meat and eggs are
those that contribute to the grime and dirt.
It is our responsibility to ensure that our kitchen stays spic and
span given the fact that we consume whatever is cooked in this
particular room. Consuming contaminants and dirt can lead to illnesses
and permanent damage to our health when especially when there is regular
consumption. While you get on to clean your kitchen on a daily basis,
here are a few tips that could give you a sparkling clean kitchen
without having to toil.
• Clean the gas oven well – The oven grates are the
ones that get to soak up spillage from the cooking platters or dishes
which often gets unnoticed and gets dry given the heat from the burner
helping it to dry up. While you are done for the day, you could remove
these grates and soak them in a tub full of warm water and dishwashing
liquid. While you start off with cooking the next morning, just washing
them with tap water can allow you to have clean grates to be used all
over again. There is no need to use a scrubber as the solution would
perform its duty with ease.
• Pay attention to the refrigerator – There are
times when the shelf life of food products in the fridge expires, and
there is a growth of bacteria especially when you keep cooked or raw
food in the refrigerator for an extended period. The fridge then starts
to smell, and the bad odour is extremely disturbing. Therefore, it is
essential to check your fridge every once in a while to remove old or
rotten food and thus to prevent contamination. Keeping a box of baking
soda in the fridge can help in keeping the odour away and allowing it o
stay fresh.
• Clean the cabinets – As these places are warm and
cozy, pests such as cockroaches like it in there. They get easy access
to food from what you store and thus allowing things to get contaminated
without you getting to know about it. You could consider cleaning it
every week and try not to create a clutter with too many jars or packets
in it.
• Keep the sink clean – The sink is where you do all
the cleaning up of the dishes and the pans, and it would by all means
have food particles collected in the pipes. Cockroaches and other mites
often get attracted to these while coming in from the drainage pipes and
thus creating a mess. You could opt to pour in antiseptic floor
cleaners or pesticide sprays during the night or whenever you feel you
would be leaving the kitchen vacant for a long time.
